CHRISTIANITY LOSES IN THE MIDDLE EAST!

A thought to remember today, this week, and for weeks to come:
"America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify
that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are
derived from the revelations of Holy Scriptures."
President Woodrow Wilson, 1911

CHRISTIANITY LOSES AS THE FALSE DREAM OF DEMOCRACY
IN THE MIDDLE EAST GIVES WAY TO MOB RULE UNDER
ISLAMISTS AND THE STRICT RULE OF SHARIAH LAW

In 1905, Spanish-born philosopher, George Santayana, expressed this warning
which has become one of the most familiar quotes of the 20th century: "Those
who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Barry Rubin, Director of the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA),
may have had Santayana's warning in mind when he asked this question this week:
"Will the history books one day record that President Barack Obama helped
install a radical, anti-American government in Libya and Egypt due to an
ill-conceived effort to support democracy?"

Perhaps out of naivety, or perhaps out of failure to understand the meaning of
"democracy," President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, floated the vague
dream of a government of democratic ideals arising out of the riots and protest
movements in the countries of the middle east.

In most countries in that part of the world, what we in America know as personal
liberty does not exist. Those countries do not share the philosophical foundations of
the West. It is hard to believe that the concepts of personal liberty will ever displace
the barbaric practices such as the stoning of women for adultery, the severing of
hands or beheading as a form of punishment, and sacrificing people as suicide
bombers to stifle the efforts to foster what is labeled as "democracy."

Thus Obama and Clinton encouraged the rioters in Cairo, resulting in the overthrow
of Hosni Mubarak, a dictator but a friend of America and Israel. The result of the
riots and protests is a government being taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood,
and Christians attacked and murdered and their churches destroyed. In Iraq, our
experiment in installing a "democratic" government has failed, and the presence of
U.S. troops is no longer acceptable to the Iraqis. We now must leave the country
to the long on-going conflicts between Muslim sects, with Christians fleeing Iraq
by the thousands. In Afghanistan, we are also preparing to leave, where there is no
longer any Christian church in the country. In Libya, the Al-Qaeda flag is flying
alongside the new national flag of Libya and the new leaders have stated that they
intend to impose a strict form of Shariah law on the entire Libyan population.

And what is the application of Santayana's statement? Mr. Obama has failed to
learn from the past. In forming this nation, our Founding Fathers considered every
form of government, and chose to make it a Republic, rather than a Democracy.
And they left these warnings, which our government today has ignored:

"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have
ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property;
and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in
their deaths." -- James Madison, 1787

"The known propensity of a democracy is to licentiousness which the
ambitious call, and ignorant believe to be liberty." --Fisher Ames, 1788

"Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and
murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide."
-- John Adams, 1814

And what is the difference between a Republic and a Democracy? Very simply, a
a Republic is a government which operates under a Constitution. A Democracy is
a government which operates under the intentions of whomever happens to be in
power at any given time. Or even expressed more briefly: a Republic is governed
by the rule of law and a Democracy is governed by mob rule.

The result of the increase of these new pseudo-democratic, mob-ruled countries,
is that the Christian church is being eliminated by the newly empowered Islamists.

We are now within one year till Election Day, Nov. 6, 2012 -- in our
continuing count-down for prayer for that important election, there are now just
363 days. And as we pray for our nation ... our leaders ... and God's wisdom as
we vote to restore America to the nation it was intended to be, and has always
been, we must not fail to pray for our fellow Christian believers all over the world,
who daily face persecution, and even loss of life, from Muslims and other enemies
of the Christian faith.

Beyond the headlines, we can learn much from "What Others Are Saying."

Chris Carmouche (in GrassTopsUSA): After these headings: "Obama is the
disease. Impeachment is the cure." and "Wake up! People are rioting," he adds
these comments: "The Community-Organizer-In-Chief's incompetence and
incalculable hatred of this nation has now brought violence to the streets of
America... Obama has finally let his hatred for this great nation boil over...
He has presided over the greatest decline in American history... Obama has
trampled our Constitution, he's usurped the authority of Congress, alienated
our allies, cozied up to our enemies, used our hard-earned money to line the
pockets of his cronies, turned a blind eye to voter fraud and the selling of
weapons to criminal elements south of the border; and to top it all off, he
continues to accrue debt at such an alarming rate that it's a clear and
present threat to our national security."

An interesting comment on one of the elite media's major themes . . .
Jack Marshall (in Ethics Alarms): "The media's relentless coverage of the
non-story of Herman Cain's alleged sexual harassment 15 years ago
continues in defiance of all previous standards of journalistic ethics, fairness
and decency. It is a disgusting spectacle."

James G. Zumwalt (Lt. Col. UMC Ret.):"With President Barack Obama's
announcement last month that US forces would be withdrawn from Iraq by
year's end, he decided not to address the true realities of this withdrawal.
Instead, the political reality of a re-election campaign caused him to spin as
positive what really is negative. By doing so, he promotes self over country"

Vision to America: "The world is shifting. It is dissatisfied, baffled and
craving transformation. Religious tolerance is prized more than truth.
From clever slogans to celebrity endorsements, we are bombarded with
seemingly peaceful messages of coexistence. But beneath the bumper
stickers and T-shirts is buried this truth: Coexistence is a myth. Instead, a
war for world domination is raging--between radical Islam, secularism
and Judeo-Christianity."

One of the better comments on the "Occupy" movement . . .
Alan Caruba (Founder, National Anxiety Center): "You don't solve
unemployment by embracing tyranny...Their anger would be better directed
against a federal government that is responsible for the 2008 collapse of the
housing market and major banking, investment and insurance companies,
many of which were bailed out by Congress using the funds of taxpayers."

A few interesting "One Liners" from our research this week . . .

"Obama Spins His Wheels; Economy Stuck in First Gear." (from the
Heritage Foundation)

"Things are getting colder for Holder." (from the Daily Caller)

"Fix the Leaks in Washington; Send in Joe the Plumber." (from GOP USA)

"Instead of POTUS (President of the United States), prefer COOTUS
(Community Organizer of the United States)." (from James Delingpole's 365
Ways to Drive a Liberal Crazy)

"This president is about as candid and accurate as Bernie Madoff in what
he tells the American people." (from Newt Gingrich in a recent debate)

And this week we found at random, a few applicable "Afterthoughts" . . .

In a rare bi-partisan effort, last week the House of Representatives by a 396 - 9
vote passed a resolution reaffirming that "In God We Trust" is the official motto of
the United States. One of the factors making such a resolution necessary was Mr.
Obama's refusal to correct his statements that "E pluribus unum" is the national
motto. After the House vote, Mr. Obama mocked the action, saying "You had
legislation reaffirming that 'In God We Trust' is our motto." And he added,
"I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people
back to work." White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, supported the
president's remarks with this profound statement: "I believe that phrase in the
Bible is 'the Lord helps those who help themselves.'" Mr. Carney or Mr.
Obama would be hard put to find that in the Bible -- actually it is from Ben
Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac. And who voted against the resolution?
Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Gary Ackerman (D-NY), Justin Amash (R-Mich),
Judy Chu (D-CA), Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), Mike Honda (D-CA), Hank
Johnson (D-GA), Bobby Scott (D-VA), and Pete Stark (D-CA).

That same White House Press Secretary had other things to say about
how President Obama will continue to act independently, without congressional
authorization, to benefit the American people as part of the White House’s "We
Can't Wait" campaign. “He [Obama] fully understands that the kinds of things
that are contained within the American Jobs Act require congressional action,
require laws being passed...But he can also act independently or, rather,
administratively, and exercise his executive authority to benefit the American
people in other ways. And he will continue to do that.”

We are reminded of Ebenezer Scrooge in Dickens' A Christmas Carol . . .
The U.S. Air Force Academy has pulled out of a Christian-sponsored children’s
toy drive after commanders were accused of religious intolerance. Mikey
Weinstein, who runs the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, has forced the
U.S. Air Force Academy to stop participating in Franklin Graham's "Operation
Christmas Child," sponsored by Samaritan's Purse. The program provides
shoeboxes to hundreds of thousands of needy children around the world. The
shoeboxes contain toys, toiletries, and messages of hope. The charity effort had
been spearheaded by compassionate Air Force cadets. Weinstein says the
academy’s participation in Operation Christmas Child is inappropriate because of
its evangelical Christian roots. Tony Perkins, of Family Research Council, well
summarized the situation: "This is a part of Weinstein's long running crusade
against Evangelicals at the Air Force Academy. Unfortunately, military
leaders are all too ready to retreat in this brave new anti-Christian, anti-
American environment created by President Obama and his Administration."

Remember Mr. Obama's speech in Cairo in June, 2009? The one where he
said, "I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States
to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.” Strange;
no other president in American history ever felt such a responsibility. But he has
not forgotten that responsibility, and now in this new era of political correctness, the
U.S. Army has published a special handbook for soldiers titled Culture Cards:
Afghanistan & Islamic Culture, which describes Islamic jihad as "the communal
military defense of Islam and Muslims when they are threatened or under
attack.” The handbook explains that some Muslims consider Islam to be under
moral, spiritual, economic, political and military attack by the secular west, and thus
military jihad is a necessity, and is a “rallying cry to resist and attack all that is
un-Islamic.” (That would probably explain the beheadings, suicide bombings, etc.)

UNESCO's acceptance of Palestine poses serious problems at the UN.
The United States typically funds about 20 percent of UNESCO's budget, but
American law, enacted in the 1990's, bars contributions to organizations that grant
membership to territories that are not internationally recognized as states. Thus with
UNESCO's acceptance of Palestine as a member, the U.S. has stopped funding
UNESCO, as has Canada. Now there is a strong and active effort underway for
Congress to change the law, or for Obama to act independently of Congress. With
respect to Israel, Obama's words say one thing, but his actions are clearly pro-
Muslim and anti-Israel. His loyalty to his Muslim brothers continues to rule his term
in office and his dealings with Israel. And he only has one more year to completely
severe all US diplomatic relations with Israel, leaving them to fend for themselves
against the Muslims.

Our Founding Fathers had much to say about our nation's government.

"The best means of forming a manly, virtuous, and happy people will be found
in the right education of youth. Without this foundation, every other means, in
my opinion, must fail." -- George Washington, 1784

"A feeble executive implies a feeble execution of government. A feeble
execution is but another phrase for a bad execution; and a government ill
executed, whatever may be its theory, must be, in practice, a bad government."
-- Alexander Hamilton, 1788

"Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and
will vanish like spirits at the dawn of day." -- Thomas Jefferson, 1816
